The seventh manifestation of Devi Durga is known as Shri Kaalratri ,which means the night of dissolution . Everything that is created , stays for a while and merges back within it's source . As Kaalratri , the Goddess is boundless as she is devouring that ignorance which says that I am different from the supreme source , or I am just a human being and just a body . She literally devours your mortality and exposes you to an experiential reality where you see yourself one with the Divine . Tat twam asi ( you are that divine ) , becomes a living experience by the grace of Devi Kaalratri . The dark form of Ma Kaalratri reveals her cosmic nature , as universe itself is dark . Even if you combine millions of galaxies and trillions of stars still the darkness of universe appears colossal . Darkness is the ultimate reality of life , light is just like your mortal life once the fuel is over the body dies . The consciousness has no form , no light as it is undefined in terms of physical presence so it is equated to formlessness / darkness which is Devi Kaalratri . As she dissolves your limited identities within herself , the eternal night of self dissolution brings self realization in that being.
